DISPATCHES

05-18-09 Boston MA: 0406 hrs. At a hotel near the airport. I will be wheels up in a few hours. Today might be a little blurry but I should get some sleep on the flight. I got a ride here last night post show from Portsmouth. The shows went well, the audiences were fantastic. If any of you who showed up are reading this, thanks for being so great and it was cool to meet you all afterwards.

Weekend fly out dates are always fairly sleepless events. It’s the logistics of getting from show to show utilizing airports, taxis, etc. that makes for a lot of hustle pre-show. This weekend was no exception. I flew out for the first show in Woodstock out of LAX late at night to Dulles and then up to Albany NY. I got a few hours of sleep and then got a ride to Woodstock and did the show. I remember the show but not a lot else. The rest of the travel to get to the next place left me pretty dazed but at least the shows were good. Doing dates this way is a burnout though and a few more days like this would start to have an effect. It was great to get out to the east coast for a few days though.

I will try and finish this off when I get back to Los Angeles. As it is now, not having slept since yesterday, I am drawing a blank here. Onto the airport.

2224 hrs. Los Angeles. I got back here several hours ago. I slept all the way. I worked at the office and then worked out. I went to the grocery store after that. I got several feet into the place and all of a sudden I noticed that I was in the air. I hit the ground pretty hard and what food I had leapt out of the basket and hit the deck as well. I gathered my stuff and got to my feet and looked around to see what I could have stepped on. It was a small tomato that got under my heel. I told the guy stocking them to watch out for those killer tomatoes. He just stared at me and didn’t say anything. I thought that was pretty funny. A few of the employees asked if I was ok, that was cool of them. My leg is hurting now but I am sure that will go away.

It was good to do those shows. When I am off the road for too long, it’s not good for me. As much as these weekend fly out dates are an excursion into exhaustion, they are always worth it.

Next weekend is the speech at Sonoma. I think I am ready. I like what I have written and have already sent it into the school. So far, I have not received any angry calls or letters from the place, so perhaps I’ll be ok.

Tomorrow night, I am going to see a film called Pray The Devil Back To Hell. It was recommended to me and when I checked it out online, it seemed interesting. http://www.praythedevilbacktohell.com/v3/

I have to do an interview with the BBC in the morning so I better try and get a few hours of sleep before it all starts.

Thanks for reading this. Henry
