DISPATCHES

07-19-09 LA CA: 1422 hrs. We are finally back online after almost two weeks of not having any internet access. It’s not the end of the world of course but it certainly did slow things down around here. It made me see how much I depend on the internets and that is a drag to need something that doesn’t need you but what are you going to do?

I have been in and out all week, meetings, Sons Of Anarchy stuff, etc. and only got the greatest hits of the Sonia Sotomayor hearings. Sounded to me like a certain political party really had nothing to ask so they asked about one thing over and over. I felt bad for Alabama as their senator, Jeff Sessions, continually made such a fool of himself all week long. Ms. Sotomayor patiently took his juvenile grandstanding for all it was.

Last night’s radio show was a lot of fun. Damn, I love being on KCRW. It’s a great group of people and the what we’re doing there is the right thing. The more I listen to all the different shows, the more I am digging it and am so happy to be there.

The 2010 tour is shaping up. We are nailing down dates all over the place. When things confirm and the ink dries, we’ll post them. The rough shape of the thing looks to be loosely as follows: January and February will be spent in Europe. March and part of April will be spent in America and Canada. From there, I will go to Australia for a few weeks and then back to America. This takes us to about May. That’s about all we have so far. I am hoping for dates in South Africa and more European festival dates as well as Edinburgh Festival dates, if I can get booked into it. Nothing is set yet as I said but we’re working on it. I don’t like to project too far into 2010 with so little of it booked and so much of 2009 still left to go. Basically, I will be looking to do a lot of shows next year. When I know something, I will post it and nag you about it over and over so there’s no need to write in and ask if I will be going to this place or that place, trust me, I’ll let you know.

My next book, A Mad Dash, is right on schedule for October release and in layout right now. Hopefully, if all things work out as we hope them to, I will be at MusicToday in early October, signing up the limited edition copies. Doing the final edits on two books in one year was a bit much but we got it done.

Since I have been back in America, about two weeks now, I have been existing somehow on about 4-5 hours of sleep a night. I don’t know what’s getting me up in the morning and keeping me up during the day. I got up at 0620 today and have been going since. I have to get up really early tomorrow to work on Sons, way out in the middle of nowhere. We shoot in some remote locations. I am learning all about California’s highways working on this show.

Next week, I will be presenting the Grace Jones show at the Hollywood Bowl for KCRW. Life continues to be interesting. Thanks for reading this. Henry
