DISPATCHES

08-23-09 LA CA: 1517 hrs. The room is hot and the music is on. I started with the Puttanesca album. I don’t know anything about them. Joe Baiza from Saccharine Trust is in the band, that’s perhaps why it was sent to me. From there I went to Live Frying: Wolf Eyes Live Columbus OH and now listening to a band from Africa called Witch and their album Lazy Bones!!.

Last week was very busy. I worked on Sons Of Anarchy for a couple of days, that was great. I feel very lucky to have been involved in that show. The first episode is on September 8. I guess it depends on where you live as far as when it goes on. In California, it’s on at 2200 hrs.

Speaking of Sons Of Anarchy, there’s a screening of the first episode of the season tonight. I am getting picked up in the town car early for the press line and the rest of the proceedings at 1730 hrs.

Last night, after I got out of the radio show, I went to the big party for Melrose Place. I know someone who works on the show and went with her to check out the scene. The party was held on Melrose place itself. They blocked the damn street and put a party on it. It was a very packed and loud event. I saw one other person wearing Vans besides me. I met a lot of people who were all very nice, stood for a lot of photographs and then after awhile, we left. As I looked around, I tried to imagine the cash outlay for this event. It had to have been over 100 grand at least. That’s a strange world to walk in and out of. One minute you’re amongst a lot of beautiful women crammed into small bits of cloth and a few minutes of alley shortcuts you’re back at your car parked outside of the Norm’s on La Cienega and back out into traffic.

The radio show was a lot of fun, it was good to be back to playing music and cracking wise. The last two weeks as you know, were all about the pledge drive, which went really well, just so you know. Thank you for your generosity and support of public radio.

I reckon it might be more interesting to hold this back and check in after the Sons shindig. 1610 hrs.

08-24-09 LA CA: 1001 hrs. Last night’s Sons Of Anarchy event was a great time. We got to see the first episode on a big screen. I must say, we all looked good, or at least in my case, very intense. It’s one thing to shoot scenes here and there but it’s another thing altogether to see everything all put together. Wow!

We are doing a sale of my stuff at MusicToday. If you are looking to get out of the beating from the postage, your time is now.

I have to head out to the set for work. By golly, it’s a thrill a minute around here. Thanks for reading this. Henry
