DISPATCHES

09-20-09 LA CA: 2045 hrs. I have to be up very early tomorrow for the last shoot day for Sons Of Anarchy. The wrap party was last night. I parked in the wrong place and spent a good part of last night retrieving my car from the impound lot. That’s a fast way to lose a lot of money. Last night’s radio show was one of the better shows we have broadcasted, check it on the KCRW archive if you get a chance. I am glad I went to the wrap party. It was good to see so many of the cast and crew away from the set, where it’s always go go go. They are a really good bunch of people, it’s been a great time working on the show. We started in April and all of a sudden it’s over for the year. It got loud in there as people got more and more into celebration mode. I had to go back into the place to borrow a phone to try and find where my car had been towed to. After not being able to raise a person on the other end, I decided to get proactive and get a cab to where I reckoned the car had been taken. The driver knew right where to go. He took me and dropped me off. The pick up of the car went rather smoothly. The man thanked me for not yelling at him. I guess they get grief all the time. It was my fault, I did not see the sign. It was way down at the end of the block but it was there and I was at fault. Lesson learned. Kinda robbed me of the night but that’s the breaks.

The last several days have been filled with work and travel but not a great amount of sleep. Last Thursday, I did a talking show at Sacramento State. I didn’t know if I was allowed to talk about it on the site so I kept it on the down low, sometimes universities are not looking for non-students to deprive students of seats so I let the school tell the locals if they choose to. It was a good show and great to be back onstage after so many weeks. I got back to the hotel near midnight, was back up at 0400 hrs. for the flight and a few hours later, back on set, working on Sons.

We got the first copies of the new book A Mad Dash back from the printer and they look really good. The rest are on a truck going to MusicToday. I will go out there soon and sign them up and when that’s done, we will announce and you can check it out if you see fit. Our sale on selected thangs is still on. We have started work on the next series of talking show CDs. The series will be called Spoken Word Guy and they will be live shows from the last two tours. We have finished one and will be working on two more in a couple of days. They will be 2CD sets, good sound quality and very cheap as usual.

I wanted to mention the Crude doc again. It seems to be picking up some momentum. It is playing in Los Angeles at the Nuart right now. Here’s an article about it: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/09/movies/09crude.html?bl&ex=1252641600&en=6895a06a4b08bafa&ei=5087%0A. Here’s the website for the film: http://www.crudethemovie.com/

A few days ago, I went to the Chateau Marmont to be interviewed and photographed. There were three of us to be interrogated. It was me, Herbie Hancock and Ozzy, in that order. I did my photos and interview and was told that Mr. Hancock had arrived. I wanted to meet the man as I am a fan. I met him, it was brief, I mean really brief. He seemed to be in a hurry. Oh well.

I am going to have to get my head down and try and get some sleep. I have a long day tomorrow as I am sure you all have as well.

Until next week, thanks for reading this. Henry
