Fanatic! I hope the week was good. The place I pre ordered the Fall reissues of The Infotainment Scan and Middle Class Revolt just sent me an email telling me that the records will be delayed for a couple of weeks. It’s hard to be patient. I really want to hear these.

Fanatic, we have a great show lined up for you. I know that where you might be listening from might not feel all that much like spring but it’s a spring/thaw play list we have for you tonight.

On 4-17-21, in our second hour, we will be playing that cool Fall live album that just came out on Castle Face. It’s so good!

For now, get ready for a great night of listening.

Thanks for tuning in and STAY FANATIC!!!

Fanatic! I hope you had a great week. A good mix tape we have here for you tonight. Just so you know, there is a healthy amount of new records out and coming out over the next several months and we will be bringing them to you as best we can. Some of the releases, the labels have not announced yet. I’m always very careful not to say anything before the labels or bands as it’s not for me to get out in front of them. I will say that there are some great records coming our way and I’m fairly sure they’re coming out this year. The virus has not been kind to release schedules.

This is a great gathering of tunes which we hope you will like. Next week’s show is almost done and it’s going to be a real cool time.

Have an excellent, safe, distanced weekend and STAY FANATIC!!!

Fanatic! I hope you had a great week and that you got some great listening in. I’m doing my best to log a few hours a day of great tunes and have been doing pretty well with it. Music is good at any time of the year of course but my favorite time listen to music is in warm to hot weather. It seems to make more sense. I’m always trying to hear new music but at the same time, there’s so many spring/summer favorites I want to listen to. I’ll have to get up earlier.

Fanatic, if you look at our second hour, you’ll see that we’ve got a bit of Ty Segall going on. We’re going to listen to the Live At Zebulon. It’s a half hour set and it’s really good. Here’s the address to get the vinyl. https://ty-segall.com/products/ty-segall-live-at-zebulon-lp

Here’s a record you might want to check out. I think it’s great. Sweeping Promises - Hunger For A Way Out. We’ll be starting tracks soon. https://sweepingpromises.bandcamp.com/album/hunger-for-a-way-out

Endless Garbage with John Dwyer and associates. This is a really good record. The pre-sales blew out and the colored edition has been flipped to the regular places for way too much but I’m willing to bet there will be a repressing that will be a bit easier on the wallet. Keep your eye out for this one. https://www.castlefacerecords.com/products/endless-garbage-john-dwyer-ted-byrnes-greg-coates-tom-dolas-and-brad-caulkins?variant=39256447451222

Heidi sent me this link days ago. It’s great to see Robert Fripp play this song.

Fanatic! I hope you had a great week. Last night, I listened to The Fall - Live At St. Helens Technical College '81 LP + 7” that Castle Face has just released. This is such a great find. The sound quality is superb and the band is just incredible. It’s amazing that this show went unreleased for so long. If you’re a Fall fan, you really want to check this out. I went to the label’s Bandcamp page looking for a download version. I want to play the whole thing on one of our shows this year. So far, I haven’t found any place where I can get a digital version but I’ll keep trying. Here’s the Castle Face address for the record if you’re interested.

Remember all those Bandcamp addresses I put here last week? Here they are again.

I’ve been getting my spring listening set up over the last several days, balancing those records with new ones that have been coming in as well as checking out the records that have been sitting on the shelf for awhile. Next to my desk in the office, I have a lot of interesting music on CD and cassette. I have two boxes. One of them is for what I haven’t heard yet. I play something and once it’s done, I put it in the other box. It’s so utilitarian but it works. I’m in there every day, working on things.

As to our show tonight, it’s a great one. We’ve got a great mix tape of songs that you will hopefully find to your liking.

Next week, get ready, in our second hour, we will be listening to the Ty Segall live at Zebulon show. It’s a great thirty minute set with Ty in full distorto mode that I think you’re going to like.

There are some great records that have come out recently that we’ll be getting into. I think we’re in for an excellent spring/summer of music.

Let’s be smart, have a great time and STAY FANATIC!!!

Fanatic! I hope this finds you well and that you had a safe and not too frustrating week. I know that all this virus business got old a long time ago and you’re beyond done. We have to hang in there. I’ve been getting emails from people who are having a lot of problems with all this on so many levels. Why wouldn’t they? This is such a test.

If it’s any consolation at all, we have a great show lined up for you.

Joe from DOA asked me if I would let you know that he’s making a documentary

Fanatic! It’s good to be back with you, I hope the week was as good as thing allow. Right now, it’s Friday night. I’m listening to Machine Gun Etiquette by the Damned, the Drastic Plastic 200 gram black vinyl pressing. Sounds great. All those Drastic Plastic Damned reissues sound really good. It’s been raining here, which as you might know, is pretty rare for this part of the country. It would be a perfect time to be somewhere other than in the same place I’m at pretty much every night. I guess I could get in my car, drive to my pre COVID Friday night perch and park outside of it and write this but that’s a bit much for even me.

Fanatic, I was always hoping this was going to happen and finally, it did. Evil Power, the crushing album by Lair Of The Minotaur is on LP. I’ve played it twice and it’s so good. We’ll have a track from it on next weeks show. This is the album that contains my favorite LOTM track, which is the second on the first side. Here’s the site info.

https://improvedsequence.bandcamp.com/album/evil-power-imp011

You might notice, Fanatic, that we start our second hour with a track by Mr. Paul Leary. Yes, the one from the Butthole Surfers. Great guy. He has a new solo album out called Born Stupid. We have been cleared to play the title track. https://shimmy-disc.net/bornstupid.html

You also might notice that we finish the second hour with the title track from a relatively new Osees record. It’s a long track, so get ready to all in. I say a relatively new track because there seems to be a new Dwyer related release ever other week. I think the vinyl is sold out on Weirdo Hairdo but the download is available. Next week, we will be able to start tracks on the Witch Egg album on the great Rock Is Hell label. This features John Dwyer, Bent Arcana and Thee Oh Sees era Dwyer alums. I’ve had this album for about five months and have been looking forward to the time we’d be able to start playing tracks. I think it’s one of the coolest and most interesting things Mr. D has done to date.

Fanatic! I hope the week was good and safe. We have a great show lined up for you. A lot of new jams. One I’m excited about is at the beginning of our second hour, a new track by Party Dozen called The Worker. It has a cool video that the label has told me is okay to post the address of here.

My Weirdo Hairdo record came in. I like it! I’ve only played it once but I think it’s a great one.

Fanatic, you might be aware of the Rock Is Hell Records label out of Austria. Super cool, often extremely limited runs. They have a record that Mr. John Dwyer is involved with called Witch Egg. I’ve had a test pressing for awhile and it’s a great one. So far, one of my favorite records of 2021. Here’s the info: https://rockishell.bigcartel.com

Just so you know, I have a new book out, that I’ve never told you before about, ever!

It’s Friday evening as I’m writing this. I’m gathering a good batch of records to check out tonight. So far I’ve got some album called Machine Gun Etiquette, a David Bowie bootleg I’ve been waiting to play and there very well could be a Joy Division record that could find its way to the turntable.

Another weekend of solitary confinement. Good thing there’s music. Hope you dig the show. Thanks for tuning in!

Stay safe, stay healthy and STAY FANATIC!!!

Fanatic! I hope your week was great. No, really! I know. Things have been kind of mind-blowing and draining as of late. This is one of the reasons we gather a bunch of music together every week to neutralize what came at us days before.

Don’t look at the list just yet. We have, as you were warned last week about, a tremendous second hour with Joy Division’s 1978 Arrow Studios RCA Sessions. The songs go by so fast. I was listening to them last night and it’s a great album.

Cool new/newish records we’re checking out tracks from Body Double, Beechwood, the Bobby Lees, TV Smith, Lamps, Osees, Pumice and Richard Rose.

I’ve heard tell that people are finally getting their Osees Weirdo Hairdo vinyl. I hope mine is at the mail pick up place I’ll be going by today. I took my first listen to Panther Rotate on vinyl last night. Looking forward to getting into that one again soon, there’s a lot to hear.

I sometimes get a little concerned that we slow things down a little with playing an entire record but now and then, I think it’s worth it. I choose sparingly. Many years ago, a radio joke was that DJs would put on Dark Side Of The Moon so they could have a smoke break. That’s not what’s happening here!

We hope you like the show. Have a great weekend, what’s left of it, prepare yourself for yet another “eventful” week that will be taught in classes for centuries to come and STAY FANATIC!!!

Fanatic! The weekend is here and so are we. The last few days . . .  whoa. Not my kind of excitement but we have two great hours of music lined up and I think it’s a good soundtrack for staying in and staying safe.

Thanks to Fanatic Denise for the info on the Boris/Merzbow title. “2R0I2P0” is basically “2020 RIP.” Now we know. Thanks again, Ms. D.

Fanatic! Well, here we are, going into another year. I hope your holiday was good even if your options were somewhat limited.

Even though it’s only been a week, it somehow feels longer, maybe because a year has ticked over. I don’t know where you’re listening from but as I remember when it’s the beginning of a new year here, there are some fireworks or at least some noise. I was outside listening for them when the year started and I didn’t hear a thing.

Have you heard the new Boris/Merzbow album  2R0I2P0? We’ve got a track from it tonight. I’ve played it like five times now and I’m really digging it. I think there’s like six color variants.

We’re starting the show with a band called Beechwood. If you like what you hear, here’s more info:

https://www.bompstore.com/beechwood-songs-from-the-land-of-nod-killer-nuggets-style-psych-glam-punk-w-insert-ltd-ed-starburst-vinyl/

The Bobby Lees are also on the show, here’s more info on their album.

https://www.bompstore.com/bobby-lees-skin-suit-produced-by-underground-punk-legend-jon-spencer-of-the-blues-explosion-black-vinyl/

Tonight we rock a track from yet another Osees record (how do you keep up with these guys?!) called Weirdo Hairdo. It’s sold out at the Castle Face site, hopefully they’ll make some more. The flippers got them on Discogs and on eBay. Ouch!

I’ve been a fan of Early Man for years. This album is rippin’.

https://earlymanofficial.bandcamp.com/album/thank-god-youve-got-the-answers-for-us-all

The new Richard Rose album Radiation Breeze is really good. We start our second hour with a track from it.

https://intheredrecords.com/collections/frontpage/products/richard-rose-radiation-breeze-lp

I’m very sorry to have forgotten this album. It literally got lost in a stack of records. A new album by Lamps called People With Faces. I like all their albums but this is easily my favorite. Produced by some guy named Ty Segall. Denée Segall on bass! We’ll start it next week. We should have started this super cool album weeks ago!

https://intheredrecords.com/collections/frontpage/products/lamps-people-with-faces

This is the information on how to get my new book.

https://www.twothirteensixtyone.com/collections/frontpage/products/stay-fanatic-vol-2

Have you checked out the Cliquey Bitches on vinyl yet? Happening!

https://fettkakao.bandcamp.com/album/scorpio-scorpio

That’s a lot of homework, I know. Bottom line, we hope you dig the show. We have next week’s show ready to go. I have a cool idea for our 01-16-21. I think you’re going to like it. I’ll write you about it next week.

Have a great time listening and STAY FANATIC!!!

Fanatic! It’s 12-25-20, I’m in the office, listening to cassette #4 of the American Tapes AM 664 Full Scales ‎Half Clothed Home-Truths  six cassette box set. It’s a great one.

Nowhere to go! It’s been super boring at times around here but it’s not like I don’t have a ton to do. None of it is all that exciting but it needs to get done. Yesterday was great. I had a safely distanced lunch with the team over at Bomp! Records. It was kind of funny to be sitting across the room from each other, conversing like we were in a wind storm but these are the times we’re in.

Fanatic, this is the show where we listen to the 2020 remix of David Bowie’s 1970 The Man Who Sold The World. It’s interesting but I still prefer the original. Anything done by Tony Visconti is worth checking out. I just wonder why it was done. I just thought we should check it out from start to finish to get a truer understanding of the project. A song here and there wouldn’t have given it the context and respect the project deserves.

Otherwise, for our last show of the year, we have what we hope you will find to be a great set of tunes. So far, I haven’t heard that we’ve been canned, so it looks like we will be back next week in 2021. The show is already done and it’s a great one. Engineer X requested the show a little early to accommodate holiday schedules.

2020, well, we’re still here. 2021 will have to be better, right?! Let’s make it so!

Make your holiday safe and STAY FANATIC!!!

Fanatic. I hope you have been doing great since we last gathered to commune with the tunes.

I’m trying to stay busy and get things ready for 2021. My 2022 tour is coming together and even though it’s a year away, I’m still excited about it. I wish it was starting this January. I hope things will be in a better place and I actually get to do the shows. That part feels a bit remote but I’m hoping for the best until I hear otherwise.

This is yet another Osees record and yes, it’s really great.

https://www.castlefacerecords.com/products/osees-weirdo-hairdo

The Cliquey Bitches 12” Scorpio Scorpio is really hitting on vinyl. I rocked it last night.

https://fettkakao.bandcamp.com

My new book, Stay Fanatic!! Vol. 2 can be found here.

As far as TV Smith’s new album. You can go to his site for the CD

http://www.tvsmith.com/shop.shtml

It looks like the vinyl is available on Discogs. I can’t find a Bandcamp page for it.

The Jonnine Standish Blue Hills album now on vinyl.

https://boomkat.com/products/blue-hills-vinyl-edition

I guess we’re going into the “holiday season” now. It’s hard to see it as so many places are have been shut or semi-shut, I haven’t noticed much difference in traffic, which in Los Angeles, is a fairly accurate read for citizen activity.

Fanatic, we have a lot of new releases on this show!

Next week, we’ll be starting in on the new Richard Rose album Radiation Breeze. It’s a great one.

https://intheredrecords.com/products/richard-rose-radiation-breeze-lp?_pos=2&_sid=d984752a9&_ss=r

Also, I had forgotten all about the Red Lights EP, it’s Jeffrey Lee Pierce’s pre Gun Club band. So cool! We start that one next week as well.

https://intheredrecords.com/products/red-lights-s-t-12-ep?_pos=2&_sid=1ac1f05e8&_ss=r

Also, Larry Hardy and I have just gotten our newest 7” project back from the pressing plant and it came out great. I’ll ask him when we can talk about it. I think you’re going to like this one.

Next week, we will listen to the 2020 Tony Visconti remix of David Bowie’s 1970 classic The Man Who Sold The World in our second hour. Something to look forward to!

Fanatic, we are trying to make our two short hours together something you look forward to and to help keep your mood elevated as best we can. Have a great weekend and a safe week ahead.

Keep listening to music and stay Fanatic.

Fanatic! I hope you’ve been doing well and staying safe.

Also, Jonnine’s Blue Hills is on vinyl.

My Boris/Merzbow 2LP set arrived today. Sounds great. It’s on Relapse. Quite a few variants on this one. I’m still waiting on my copy of NO. Hurry up!

Not to beat it into the ground but Stay Fanatic!! Vol. 2 is in stock.

https://www.twothirteensixtyone.com/collections/frontpage/products/stay-fanatic-vol-2

I don’t know if you ever checked out our KCRW Berlin show but after 75 shows, that came to an end when the station shut down. If you ever checked the show out, thanks.

We will rock the 2020 remix of The Man Who Sold The World in hour two of our 12-26-20 show. It’s pretty cool but I think I still like the original better. If you get a chance, listen to the original a couple of times beforehand so when we turn the remix loose, you’ll be able to note the differences. It’s not nearly as jarring as that Station To Station “thing” but there’s some changes you will probably notice.

Next week’s show is almost ready.

Stay safe and STAY FANATIC!!!

Fanatic! If Thanksgiving is an occasion that moves you in any way, I hope you had a good one and maintained your safety protocols. Consider me cautious but there’s something you can do and can stay safe at the same time and that’s listen to music. When in doubt, stay home and put a record on.

We’re starting the show yet again with Cliquey Bitches. Here’s the vinyl ordering info: https://fettkakao.bandcamp.com/album/scorpio-scorpio

Optic Sink info: https://opticsink.bandcamp.com/album/optic-sink

Stay Fanatic!!! Vol. 2 is ready for preorder. We’ll have them in a couple of days and as soon as they arrive, out the door they go. This book was the single most time intensive project we’ve ever done. I hope you like it. In case you’re interested, here’s the information:

https://www.twothirteensixtyone.com/collections/frontpage/products/stay-fanatic-vol-2

This show was interesting to make. Now and then, it’s like I’m being led to the next song and the next one, etc. Unfortunately for my sanity, I really cook on making shows around 0230 hrs. I used this shift to make next week’s show and it worked well, although it kinda makes the next day a little unfocused for the first few hours.

Oh, I did get the remixed version of David Bowie’s The Man Who Sold The World. I’ve listened to it again. It’s not radically different like the Station To Station remix. I do think we should check it out. So, how about we check out the original on 12-19-20 and the remix on 12-26-20? This is a very different kind of Bowie record from Station. It’s great but a different line-up and headspace than what came later. This will make for some really cool listening.

It will be December when next we meet and the start of the “holiday season.” Please be careful. Records and books are no bad way to spend time and can keep you healthy.

Stay safe and STAY FANATIC!!!

Fanatic! I hope you have been well. Interesting week of news and other bummer turbulence. Keep listening to music and stay safe!

Did you know there is a remixed version of David Bowie’s album The Man Who Sold The World? It was done by Tony Visconti. It was released on November 8, apparently. I got a copy of the LP and the CD on the way. I’ll give them a listen and if I think it’s interesting enough, we can do another one of our contrast and compare show. As I’ve been writing this, I’ve been listening to the 2020 mix on Discogs and I guess I’ll have to go back to the original as the remix doesn’t seem all that different. Wasn’t that Maslin 2010 remix of Station To Station a trip?! I’m sticking with the original.

Allison Wolfe and Alice Bag are Cliquey Bitches and they made a record called Scorpio Scorpio. It’s really good. It was a download for a couple of years but now it’s on vinyl. Here’s the address. https://fettkakao.bandcamp.com/album/scorpio-scorpio

I just ordered up. Cool!

My new book, Stay Fanatic!!! Vol. 2 is on a truck and will be here in a few days. I will be signing them up next week. Heidi and I are going to shoot a video talking about the new Stay Fanatic!!! on Monday. I’m picking out things mentioned in the book to show to the camera this weekend. This volume picks up from where the previous one left off. Almost 500 images this time around. Previously, the first volume of this series was the most labor and time intensive book project we had ever done, that is, until the new one. In the final layout, our layout guy Dave and I were pulling 15 hour days but finally it went to the printer a day before the 10-01-20 deadline.

Also, my book Get In The Van is back in print and due to land within days as well. Our plan is to have both books ready so if anyone wants to get both, we can save them the postage. We will announce as soon as everything is in place.

We have a great show lined up for you here. Ms. Wolfe and Ms. Bag start us off. Adulkt Life and Eggy get played for the first time.
